This free webinar is an overview of a new book and international training, Rein in Your Brain, where addiction experts, Cynthia Moreno Tuohy and Emmy Award-winning science journalist Victoria Costello, offer ten tools for breaking the cycle of impulsivity. This webinar introduces how to incorporate these techniques into one's daily interactions and lifestyle so relationships can move from those of conflict to mutual respect and understanding. Join us to help reduce relapse and sustain recovery of adult and adolescent substance use, abuse and dependent persons by improving your trauma conflict resolution knowledge, attitudes and skills.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Identify phrases and behaviors in the limbic area of the brain and how that hampers recovery;
- Identify phrases and behaviors in the cortex area of the brain and how that enhances recovery;
- Self-identify where you are in your own relationships (stages) and what you need and want to be in relationship with others in a healthy way.

Earn 2 Continuing Education Hours (CEs)
To earn a CE Certificate for viewing this webinar, you must view the webinar in its entirety, pass the CE quiz, and complete the online survey evaluation.
- Upon completing the webinar, you will have access to the CE quiz within the course you are taking. Find the CE quiz in the NAADAC Education Center and click “purchase.” NAADAC members will be prompted to register for the CE quiz for free, while non-members will be prompted to pay a $25 processing fee to access the quiz.
- A score of 80% or higher is required to pass the CE quiz and access your CE certificate. You have 10 opportunities to pass the quiz. If you are unable to pass the quiz in the allocated number of tries, then you must retake the course.
- Upon passing the CE quiz, you will be required to complete the survey evaluation for the course. Once that is completed, your CE certificate will be immediately available in your account in the NAADAC Education Center to download and print. All certificates will be stored in the NAADAC Education Center under your profile name. Presenter
Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, NCAC II, CCDC II, SAP, is the Executive Director of NAADAC, the Association of Addiction Professionals. She previously served as the Executive Director of Danya Institute and the Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center. Prior to this she was the Program Director for Volunteers of America Western Washington, serving homeless populations and dealing with the co-occurrence of poverty and substance abuse issues. In addition, she has been the administrator of multi-county, publicly funded alcohol/drug prevention/ intervention/ treatment centers with services ranging from prenatal care to the serving the elderly for over 20 years. Moreno Tuohy has been a trainer in Domestic Violence/Anger Management and Conflict Resolution for over 19 years as well as an International, National and State trainer in a variety of topics. She has served as President of NAADAC, Certification Board Commissioner, International Chair, Treasurer and Legislative Chair for NAADAC. Moreno Tuohy has also written training components and manuals regarding: Working with adolescents, adults, seniors, school intervention, involuntary commitment, community mobilization, intensive outpatient and continuing care, impaired driver programs, EAP and gang intervention/treatment.
