It has been evident that delivery of peer support services in structured sober living homes are a critical component to the long-term sustained sobriety and the overall recovery of individuals with substance use disorders, however, very little research has been done to evidence these outcomes until now. We will discuss how certified recovery residences are a modality in the continuum of care, how an individual’s recovery is measured through the assessment of recovery capital, and how recovery capital navigation delivered by trained peer navigators is essential to develop effective strategies to bridge events of use, engage residents in activities that promote long-term recovery and thus, unburden payer systems.
- Learn what recovery residences are, where recovery residences fall in the substance abuse continuum of care and why recovery residences are important.
- Understand the social model of recovery, peer support services and how peer support services are delivered in recovery residences.
- Explain how outcomes are being measured in recovery residences and what outcomes exist for individuals that participate in recovery capital navigation within recovery residence.
