NAADAC Commends SAMHSA for the Creation of its New Office of Recovery

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has launched an Office of Recovery, within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, to advance the agency’s commitment to, and support of, recovery for all Americans.

NAADAC applauds SAMHSA on the creation of this new office. "The creation of the Office of Recovery is an important step being taken by SAMHSA," said NAADAC Executive Director Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, BSW, NCAC II, CDC III, SAP. "We commend the Biden administration and SAMHSA leadership for their commitment to supporting and promoting recovery."

SAMHSA launched the Office of Recovery in September to coincide with National Recovery Month, and in organizing this new office, SAMHSA will now have a dedicated team with a deep understanding of recovery to promote policies, programs, and services to those in or seeking recovery.
