NAADAC’s 2018 Annual Conference: Shoot for the Stars, held at the Westin Galleria Houston in Houston, TX from October 5-9, 2018, was a huge success!
The over 850 participants who attended this year’s conference included NAADAC members, addiction professionals from across the country, enthusiastic speakers, artists, exhibitors and international addiction professional representatives. The five-day event included full day pre-conference and post-conference sessions, daily plenary sessions with keynote speakers, 60 breakout sessions, over 80 exhibitors, poster presentations, a two-day Department of Transportation Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Qualification/Requalification course, and special events. Attendees received up-to-date information from the top industry experts on the latest trends, practices, and critical issues that impact addiction professionals, networked with fellow addiction professionals and exhibitors from across the country, and had fun!
This year’s conference offered a variety of artistic exhibits, performances and special events, each offering a unique view into addiction prevention, treatment, recovery support and education. These special events included a movie viewing of and panel discussion about the documentary and multi-media art exhibition Letter to My Mother by artist Branislav Jankic, the comedic show “Perfekty Broken” performed by Marc Lundholm, and the musical stylings of musician John McAndrew during several keynote sessions and the NAADAC Education and Research Foundation (NERF) live auction. The NERF live auction night was enjoyed by all who attended and brought in a significant amount of money for the non-profit foundation.
