Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA) Hosted Recovery Month Forum in Middle Georgia
In honor of National Recovery Month, an annual initiative by SAMHSA, the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA) posted a Recovery Month forum entitied Reigniting Hope: Strengthening Families and Communities on September 15, 2017 in Soperton, GA. The forum featured the powerful keynote speaker Judge Verda Colvin, the Bibb County Superior Court judge whose video went viral as she spoke in her courtroom to adolescents about hope for their futures. Lynn Honeycutt, LPC, CAC II, presented on ways to strengthen families and communities affected by substance use disorders. This community event also featured Macon-based artist Micah Goguen, who facilitated a community art mural where all attendees created a mixed media painting about what recovery means to them.
