What certifications does NCC AP offer?

NCC AP offers seven national national certifications and endorsements for addiction professionals. The type of certification/endorsement available for each counselor/addiction professional depends upon the experience and education of the applicant. What are the requirements for NCC AP certification?

Each level of NCC AP certification has different requirements. Details about these requirements can be found by clicking on the title of each credential listed here.

How much does can NCC AP certification or endorsement cost?

Initial applications cost $235, plus the testing cost of $150.  Cost of renewal is $200 every two years for the NCAC INCAC IIMACNCAAC, NDS, and NCPRSS, and every three years for the NCSE.

What is the difference between my state certification and NCC AP certification?

NCC AP credentials are national optional credentials and do not replace any credential or license issued by a state or credentialing authority. To hold and maintain any NCC AP certification except for the NCPRSS, one must already hold a current credential or license issued by a state or credentialing authority. Is the NCC AP test accepted by my state's certifying body?

Where do I get applications to take the certification test?

You can register to take our examination through Kryterion. Kryterion administers the tests on NAADAC's behalf. Information regarding test dates, eligibility, fees, test centers and applications can be found on the homepage for each credential listed here.

Who do I send my completed certification applications to?

Upon successful completion of the certification test (or if you are already certified in your state), download and complete the application. Send the completed application and the additional requested materials to:

How much are recertification fees for NCC AP certification?

All renewal applications cost $200.00.

When will I receive my renewal application?

Renewal applications are sent out every two or three years (depending on your credential). In addition, renewal applications are available online to dowload. If you have not received a renewal notification, NAADAC may not have your current address. To update your contact information, contact NAADAC at [email protected] or call at 800.548.0497 ext. 111. Please put "Credential Renewal" in the subject line.

What is the difference between my State Certification and NAADAC Certification?

Certain states allow counselors to use the NAADAC certification for the state certification as well. In other states, where the NAADAC certification cannot serve as a state certification, applicants must be certified by their respective state before taking the NAADAC test and applying for national certification.

Is the NAADAC test accepted by my state's certifying body?

How do I renew my certification?

Download a renewal application, email NCC AP, or call at 800.548.0497 for a renewal application form. To help ensure that you application is processed before it expires, you must renew your certification 60-90 days prior to expiration.

I missed the deadline. How much are the late fees for re-certification?

The re-certification late fee is $50 per credential renewal application.
