Free NAADAC Webinar
Wednesday, November 16, 2016 @ 3-4:00pm ET (2CT/1MT/12PT)
Individuals in early recovery from substance abuse issues frequently face daunting employment and career development issues. When an individual exits a recovery facility, it is with the hope that they will then be able to contribute to society in a meaningful way. Career and employment is a significant part of this equation, then. This webinar seeks to address some of these career development and employment challenges, as well as to then offer interventions to utilize with clients who are navigating these challenges. Some of the issues that will be addresses are as follows:
- Lack of information about how to effectively go about the job search process;
- Lack of information about self (interests, strengths, personality type);
- Limiting beliefs about one’s agency (self-efficacy), in terms of seeking and obtaining work;
- Barriers to employment, such as criminal records and childcare challenges;
- Lack of work-readiness skills / soft skills / interpersonal skills.
This webinar will present targeted interventions, many of which are derived from the theory of Positive Psychology. Lastly, this webinar will present several low-cost career exploration and employment resources.
- Name at least 5 career development and employment issues faced by individuals in early recovery (less than one year).
- Name at between 3-5 interventions, which target career development and employability issues.
- Name at least 3 free and low-cost career exploration / personality assessment resources.
