*Attendees registered for the three-day Conflict Resolution for Recovery training have the option on October 18th of attending the third day of the CRR course specifically for trainers (Train the Trainer) or attending the third day of the regular conference.
Conflict Resolution for Recovery - October 16 & 17
With funding from NIDA, Cynthia Moreno Tuohy and Danya International developed and evaluated a multi-component, multi-media tool for use by addiction and other helping professionals to assist adults and youth improve their life traumas and conflict through skills that are an intensive set of psycho-emotional-social-spiritual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatments. The goals of these treatments are to understand the processes in the limbic and frontal cortex and how to develop self-regulation by building new neuropathways. Information is based in brain research and CBT treatments that have been effective for treatment and recovery. Other techniques are employed that unify the principles of social learning and emotional intelligence theory. This program affects behavioral learning with emotional development and maturity that results in long-term changes in the brain and behavior. Upon completion of the two days of training, attendees may apply for NAADAC's Conflict Resolution for Recovery Proficiency Certificate.
Conflict Resolution for Recovery - Train the Trainers (TOT) - October 18
This training offers persons who have completed the two-day CRR training on October 16 and 17 the ability to become a certified CRR trainer and to be able to offer this training on your own. Specifically, this training will:
- prepare trainers will tools and techniques to present the CRR material;
- enhance material delivery skills;
- explain and explore CRR materials and methods to best present;
- assure that training and materials are being delivered effectively to participants; and
- model and practice skills and techniques.
Upon completion of the three-days of training, attendees may apply for NAADAC's Conflict Resolution for Recovery Proficiency Certificate and the Conflict Resolution for Recovery Trainers Certificate.
Registrants for the three-day Conflict Resolution for Recovery training who do not want to attend the optional third day for trainers will have the option of attending regular conference sessions on October 18.
Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, NCAC II, CDC III, SAP
, is the Executive Director of NAADAC. She previously served as the Project Director of Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center and as the Program Director for Volunteers of America Western Washington. She has been the administrator of multi-county, publicly-funded alcohol/ drug prevention/intervention/ treatment centers. She has been an international, national and state trainer for over 25 years in a variety of topics. She has also served as President of NAADAC and has worked as a curriculum writer. Her book, Rein in Your Brain: from Impulsivity to Thoughtful Living in Recovery
, was released in May 2014 by Hazelden Publishers. Moreno Tuohy holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and advanced studies degrees in social work and public administration.
