Open positions

The following positions are up for election for the 2022-2024 term:

  • Officer: President-Elect
  • Officer: Secretary
  • Officer: Treasurer
  • RVP: Mid-Atlantic (Represents DE, DC, MD, NJ, PA, VA, WV)
  • RVP: Mid-South (Represents AR, LA, OK, TX)
  • RVP: Northeast (Represents CT, ME, MA, NH, NY, RI, VT)
  • RVP: Northwest (Represents AK, ID, MT, OR, WA, WY)

Qualifications & Criteria for Candidates

Only members in good standing who have been actively engaged in work in addiction counseling or as an addiction professional for at least two years immediately prior to nomination OR are retired members in good standing at the time of the nomination shall be eligible for elective office with the Association.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Candidates for NAADAC officer positions must be nominated by a member of the NAADAC Board of Directors (BOD) or a Regional Vice President (RVP).

President-Elect:

  • The ability to perform and fulfill all duties and functions of the President as enumerated and described in the Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
  • Current NAADAC Membership in good standing.
  • A minimum of two years of active engagement in the addiction profession immediately prior to the nomination OR a NAADAC Retired Member in good standing at the time of the nomination.
  • A minimum of two years of experience on either the NAADAC Board of Directors or a NAADAC Affiliate Board (State/Chapter/International).
  • Chaired a standing NAADAC committee or served on the NCC AP.
  • Qualifications a-c and d or e shall be met by all candidates for President-Elect.

Secretary:

  • The ability to perform and fulfill all duties and functions of the Secretary as enumerated and described in the Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
  • Current NAADAC membership in good standing.
  • A minimum of two years of active engagement in the addiction profession immediately prior to nomination OR a NAADAC Retired Member in good standing at the time of the nomination..
  • A minimum of two years of experience on either the NAADAC Board of Directors or a NAADAC Affiliate Board.
  • Chaired a standing NAADAC committee or served on the NCC AP.
  • Qualifications a-c and d or e shall be met by all candidates for Secretary.

Treasurer:

  • The ability to perform and fulfill all duties and functions of the Treasurer as enumerated and described in the Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
  • Current NAADAC Membership in good standing.
  • A minimum of two years of active engagement in the addiction profession immediately prior to the nomination OR a NAADAC Retired Member in good standing at the time of the nomination.
  • A minimum of two years of experience on either the NAADAC Board of Directors or a NAADAC Affiliate Board.
  • Chaired a standing NAADAC committee or served on the NCC AP.
  • Qualifications a-c and d or e shall be met by all candidates for Treasurer.
REGIONAL VICE-PRESIDENTS

Nominees for the position of Regional Vice President must represent a state wherein an Affiliated State Association is in place and may only be nominated for a region in which they reside. Nominees from each region shall come from a state Affiliate other than the state of the incumbent RVP unless a qualified nominee from another state in the region cannot be found.

Regional Vice President:

  • The ability to perform and fulfill all duties and functions of an RVP as enumerated and described in the Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
  • Current NAADAC Membership in good standing.
  • A minimum of two years of active engagement in the addiction profession immediately prior to the nomination OR a NAADAC Retired Member in good standing at the time of the nomination.
  • A minimum of two years of experience on either the NAADAC Board of Directors or a NAADAC Affiliate Board.
  • Reside and work in the region represented.
  • Qualifications a-e shall be met by all candidates for RVP.

Rules Against Campaigning

All campaign activities by any of the candidates or others on their behalf shall be strictly prohibited. This includes: 1. Any written materials in support of any nominee, except election materials produced and distributed by the NEC and/or NAADAC office; 2. Self-initiated articles for publication in state, local, and field publications; and/or 3. Editorial comments submitted to any publication directed to NAADAC members.
