Music and Romancing the Brain
Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, BSW, NCAC II, CDC III, SAP, NAADAC Executive Director and John McAndrew
Singer/songwriter and piano player John McAndrew takes us on a musical and spiritual journey from self-centeredness to humility, using stories and songs. Recent studies show us that music can reach the parts of the brain that are linked to addiction and can function as an integral part of recovery. John will share the “Six Essential Experiences in Recovery” and how these translate to working with clients in their recovery. Author, trainer and clinician Cynthia Moreno Tuohy describes the brain pathways to a healthier lifestyle in recovery by building new neuro-pathways creating healthier living and relationships. She will present the “Stages of Relationships” and the “10 Tips” to healthier relationship with self and others and thereby reduce the reoccurrence of substance use and mental health disorders.
