Professionals must be ready for change. Technology and bioscience will change how behavioral health is delivered in the future. All healthcare professionals must understand new treatment trends will change the addiction and behavioral health field. This training will review emerging trends in addiction treatment such as recent information of neuroscience, addiction pharmacology and medications based on bioscience. Digital medications, DNA to test for appropriate medications to determine which medications are best based on person’s DNA. This technology is available now.

One new strategy involves using vaccines or immunotherapies, which target the drug itself-rather than the implicated neural pathways or receptors-by binding to the drug and blocking its entry into the brain. Cocaine and nicotine vaccines are both imminent for release in 2013, and one for methamphetamine addiction is under development.

This training will provide new and updated information for all professionals. National surveys have long documented the high prevalence of drug abuse among people diagnosed with psychiatric disorders, such as ADHD and PTSD. Supported research focusing on genetic and gender vulnerabilities, similar brain regions involved in co-occurring disorders, and environmental and developmental influences. New drugs for trauma will also be discussed. Professionals must see how these trends will impact not only services but how treatment is delivered in the future. You don’t want to miss this one! This training is sure to sell out so book your registration early!
