Outcome Goals for Drinkers and Drug Takers (Posted September 15, 2011)
Over the past 20 years, there has been a lot of debate about the advantages and disadvantages of allowing alcohol and drug abusing clients to pursue a “controlled” or moderate drinking or drug-taking goal as an alternative to abstinence.  We are conducting a survey designed to help us learn what American substance abuse clinicians think about the acceptability of controlled drinking and controlled drug taking as outcome goals.
