NAADAC Life-Long Learning Series Pharmacotherapy: Integrating New Tools into Practice
NAADAC, in partnership with Cephalon, Inc. and Alkermes, Inc., has produced the educational manual Pharmacotherapy: Integrating New Tools into Practice as a part of the NAADAC Life-Long Learning Series. This educational resource addresses the four facets of alcohol dependence and addiction (biological, psychological, social and spiritual), addiction as a disease and the scientific evidence to support this claim, medication management myths, opinions and biases, a detailed comparison of FDA-approved pharmacotherapies for alcohol dependence and skills for matching patients to the most appropriate therapy.
The goal of this educational series is to bring together addiction and other helping professionals from many backgrounds to discuss pharmacotherapy in a way that challenges ideas and perceptions and to present unbiased information that can be used to assess the best possible treatment for patients.
An online version of this educational program is under development. Please contact NAADAC by e-mail or at 800.548.0497 for more details.
