Music and Psycho Drama as an intervention
Music and (psycho) drama used as an intervention in group therapy moved (RTC) population into a new and inovative realm to process issues in retrospect of the using/drinking atmosphere (at risk) envorinments while practice of learned refusal skills, and processed (predictable) interactions of family members, friends, and (old) play ground activities which provide an array of (slipping) relapse episodes. Skits which are written and examined by treatment peer group members, and (under clinical guidance) of group counselors/therapist, provided (roles) people,(characters), places, and things, which often had been (re-) occurring and until (processed) in group intervention treatment model (T.A.T.A.) provided an opportunity for the (obsevation)/participation, as if in a (time-machine) portal to (see, while) in sobriety (after 7 day detox, and 15 day participation) continuim of 30 day (Rehab) treatment program: 'Using/Drinking Time' v/s Soberiety/Recovery Present Time.'

Hi guys,

Myself NYK from Canada. I am a newbie to this forum. According to me music is the best source of entertainment. Do you really appreciate this? Thanks

I have used music in group therapy sessions with substance dependent offenders in an incarceration setting. The music was used to grant another level of understanding to emotions in assisting them to better define their emotions/feelings. It seems that clients who demonstrate an inability to cope with or express their negative feelings can relate easily to the messages in music. It's worked for me.

skits and music seem to me to be a great idea in treatment; however, music in early sobriety can bring on thoughts of using, i.e. cravings.

I agree DPaige. Very true.

I missed the question in your post... Generally, psychodrama and sociodrama seem untested to me, but they are also seem very effective in group settings. I've been very impressed with the work of Jean Campbell in the San Diego, CA. She and her group offers training for psychodrama directors:
