skits and music seem to me to be a great idea in treatment; however, music in early sobriety can bring on thoughts of using, i.e. cravings.

I missed the question in your post... Generally, psychodrama and sociodrama seem untested to me, but they are also seem very effective in group settings. I've been very impressed with the work of Jean Campbell in the San Diego, CA. She and her group offers training for psychodrama directors:
