Reasons Why Employers Support Membership in NAADAC

  • The more voices (members) NAADAC has, the larger the groundswell of people NAADAC and providers have to advocate for coverage and reimbursement for the diseases of addiction.
  • On-site training for employers on their state-specific training needs to meet state and national certification/licensure requirements at an affordable cost.
  • Using the resources of NAADAC, providers and educational institutions can focus on providing training eventsthat meet the needs of the clinical workforce. With more people involved, training can be offered on-site to decrease staff time spent at outside training.
  • By pooling resources and speaking with the same voice we can leverage limited resources to maximize their use and provide more to the treatment of the disease of addiction to building a qualified workforce.
  • NAADAC helps provide a consistent message to policy and opinion-makers about the need for both public sector funding and private sector reimbursements for treatment, prevention, intervention and recovery support.
  • Resources to enhance the voice of the addiction-focused professionals. Political Action Committee funds from members and active clinicians can make a rea difference Washington and on the state level. Mental health has about a dozen groups that contribute to politicians to promote its interests. NAADAC is the largest of the few organizations that repsents the addiction-focused community. By asking employees to join NAADAC and become active, employers help ensure that dollars spent are being used to fight for issues that protect the patient, professionals and treatment centers.
  • NAADAC provides a discount to members on liability insurance and a hotline where employees/members can get free legal advice.
  • Clinical staff who become members of NAADAC can play a leadership role in NAADAC and their state affiliate, and will be provided with tools to help them grow with a leader. They will have the opportunity to represent needs of their employers as they grow in NAADAC leadership. There are opportunity for skill-building and leadership development through NAADAC both for front-line as well as executive clinical staff.
  • NAADAC works to secure the workforce on two levels. One is to ensure that the workforce is qualified to do their job, and the second is to look at ways to secure a future workforce. Some initiatives in this area include the development of a career ladder, a student outreach committee and looking for funding for mentorship programs which help new counselors learn from senior clinicians.
