The Mountain West ATTC is offering an online, instructor-lead distance learning course “Cognitive Impairment and the Implications for Substance Abuse Treatment.”

COURSE DESCRIPTION: During this online, instructor-lead distance learning course, a review of what is currently known about cognitive impairment that results from drug use and ways that treatment protocols can be modified to address cognitive impairment will be discussed. The objectives of this course are: 1) To increase the understanding of the different structures and functions of the brain; 2) To increase the understanding of how drugs of abuse impact cognitive systems; 3) To increase understanding of the types of impairments which occurs and the implications for treatment; and 4) To increase understanding of the types of modifications which need to be made to treatment protocols to increase client retention and success.

This is a weekly modular course in which it is required that participants need to log-in weekly, read the specified module and complete weekly homework assignments to receive a passing grade/certificate. Participants are not required to log-in at specific hours.
