Description: Telehealth has arrived! An evidence based of over 4,000 journals articles support models of success; millions of people have already been served, and all states and professional associations approve under specific circumstances. This webinar overview will highlight key scientific findings; outline legal and regulatory codes; and summarize professional association ethical requirements. It will also touch upon some the many clinical issues requiring specific knowledge and skill before jumping online to work with clients. The specific competencies to be covered by professional training will be highlighted, and over 1,000 references will be made available to attendees.

Marlene M. Maheu, PhD, has trained more than 20,000 professionals in best practices for telemental health and other technological applications. As the Executive Director of the TeleMental Health Institute, Inc., she has also overseen the delivery of online training to professionals from more than 55 countries worldwide. She has helped to develop telemental health standards and guidelines at the American Telemedicine Association, the American Psychological Association and the American Counseling Association. She now serves as the CEO for the non-profit Coalition for Technology in Behavioral Science (CTiBS), which has established telemental health competencies. She has published four textbooks in the field, and written numerous book chapters and journal articles. She consults with technology start-ups to develop products for behavioral health and traditional addictions and behavioral groups to expand their services into telehealth.
