Program Overview

NAADAC's Life-Long Learning Series Motivational Interviewing: Clinical Practice with Pharmacotherapy educational program will discuss the four principles of Motivational Interviewing; motivating patients in treatment using the Stages of Change model; the four medications approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of alcohol dependence; matching patients to the most appropriate pharmacotherapy given their readiness to change; and specific interviewing methods and skills for alcohol dependent patients considering pharmacotherapy.

The goal of this educational program is to introduce addiction and other helping professionals to the specific skills necessary for integrating Motivational Interviewing and pharmacotherapy with the Stages of Change model.

This educational program was developed to further educate addiction and other helping professionals on this topic.
