An Introduction to Substance Abuse Treatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Individuals

The foundation for this two day training is the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration\'s (SAMHSA\'s) publication entitled: A Provider\'s Introduction to Substance Abuse Treatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Individuals. The goal of the publication was to improve and advance substance abuse treatment for a community of individuals whose health care needs are often ignored, denigrated, or denied. The training presents information to assist providers in improving substance abuse treatment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans-gender (LGBT) clients by raising awareness about the issues unique to LGBT clients.
