This daylong training presents a review of treatment strategies in drug involved offenders. We will cover the typology of drug offenders and the differences between sub-groups of drug offenders based on their risk and needs levels. We\'ll also review principles of treatment interventions that have empirical support of effectiveness in this population, and some specific elements of effective treatment in both custody and community settings. We will pay particular attention to the issues of motivational enhancement in the context of cognitive behavioral interventions, as well as pragmatic steps in successful implementation of these strategies.
Continuing education (6 CEs/CEHs) will be provided at no charge to participating psychologists, registered nurses, MFTs, LCSWs, and certified alcohol and drug counselors.
