Aug 14-14 Webinar: Emerging Drugs of Abuse
Herbal Incense, Bath Salts & Purple Drank
Produced in Partnership with JRW Behavioral Health Services
August 14, 2013
3 - 4:30 pm EST (2 CST/1 MST/12 PST)
Price: Education is FREE to all professionals

New drugs of abuse have been appearing on the American streets in increasing numbers over the last several years, and they present an on-going challenge to addiction treatment providers. Until recently, only limited, often inconsistent information was available about these substances.

In this webinar, participants will be introduced to three substances (bath salts, herbal incense and purple drank) that are gaining in popularity and availability. Specific issues that will be discussed include physical and psychological effects, relationship to other and more common substances, legality and availability and addiction potential. This webinar will focus both on new knowledge about these substances and on what we still need to learn in order to work effectively with clients.

Aug 16-20 Traumatic Incident Reduction-Expanded Applications Workshop

This four day intensive workshop teaches three techniques that are used to treat the symptoms of PTSD, even if the client does not have full-blown PTSD. These techniques are client-centered, non-intrusive, non-judgmental, non-hypnotic and directive. The safe environment provided by the facilitator allows the viewer of any incidents repetitively to enable her to fully remember the incident and incorporate it into normal memory so that the distressing symptoms of PTSD are reduced and often eliminated completely.

Any person who has the sincere desire to help people and is willing to abide by the Rules of Facilitation may take this workshop. It is a stand-alone workshop and one will be able to use the techniques upon workshop completion. Certification can be earned, and other workshops that give the facilitator other techniques are available to be taken. There is no requirement for any advanced degree or experience in trauma treatment. Please visit our website at www.tir.org to learn more about registration and cost. 28 CEUs are available through NAADAC.
