Acceptance & Commitment Therapy in Substance Abuse treatment and Clinical Supervision

Presenter: Fern Richie, DSN, ARNP-BC
6 NAADAC Approved Contact Hours for FULL DAY - $60
3 NAADAC Approved Contact Hours for HALF DAY - $40

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in Substance Abuse Treatment
9 am - Noon
At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
1.  Describe the six components of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. 
2.  Utilize experiential exercises with the substance abusing client to support the recovery process. 
3.  Describe the ways that Acceptance & Commitment Therapy reinforces the principles of 12-step recovery. 
4.  Describe the ways that commitment, based on the client\\\\\\\'s values, is utilized as a motivational interviewing technique. 
5.  Implement Acceptance & Commitment Therapy with the resistant client in substance abuse treatment.

Clinical Supervision
1 - 4 pm
At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Contrast and compare supervision models for substance abuse counselors.
2. Utilize strategies for supervising the resistant counselor.
3. Implement evidenced-based techniques for enhancing the counselor\\\\\\\'s effectiveness via the supervision process.
4. Identify legal and ethical issues in the supervision process.
5. Differentiate supervision from psychotherapy.
