Sep 6-11 Traumatic Incident Reduction Workshop

September 6,7 and 13,14, 2013
Ann Arbor, Mich.

This workshop covers the nature of trauma, the consequences of traumatic incidents and the Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) technique, a one-on-one, highly-structured, yet person-centered approach to resolving the emotional charge contained in traumas and permanently eliminating their negative aftereffects in a brief amount of time. It also contains data on how past traumas may be triggered, and how unwanted feelings, emotions, sensations, attitudes, and pains (themes) arising from past trauma may be traced back to their origins and eliminated. The workshop also teaches Unblocking a technique that is highly useful in preparing a client for TIR and for handling issues that are not directly trauma-related relationships.

Sep 24 Coding, Billing & Documentation for Behavioral & Mental Health Services

Lansing, MI
September 24, 2013
Lansing Center
333 E. Michigan Avenue
Lansing, MI 48933

As CMS continues to make swift changes for 2013 and the future, it is more important than ever that psychologists, social workers, counselors and therapists have an understanding of proper coding and billing for inpatient and outpatient psychotherapy and mental health services, and the constantly changing requirements of Medicare, Medicaid and third party insurers. In addition to significant CPT coding changes for 2013, providers will need to understand how to use the newly released DSM-5 for assigning accurate ICD-9-CM codes to support mental health diagnoses and services provided. Providers will also need to prepare for the 2014 implementation of ICD-10-CM and the crosswalk from ICD-9-CM codes.

This timely one-day workshop will provide behavioral health professionals with guidelines for ensuring accurate use of diagnosis and procedure codes, and the documentation and clinical reasoning necessary to support medical necessity for services provided. You will understand the documentation requirements of Medicare and third-party insurers, why claims are denied, and the proper procedures for appealing denials.

Traumatic Incident Reduction - Expanded Applications Workshop
November 1-4, 2013
Ann Arbor, Mich.
Trainer: Marian Volkman

TIR – Expanded Applications Workshop consolidates knowledge and skills gained in the first TIR Workshop and goes on from there to add an array of new tools to the facilitator\\\'s repertoire. New methods taught in this workshop will benefit a wide range of clients, from those who are fragile/low ego strength to very high-functioning people.

The new techniques learned in this workshop can be used to prepare a client for TIR, to build up ego strength (ability to face life) and develop the client\\\'s capacity to successfully address specific areas of life. These techniques also allow a practitioner to write a case plan that is more varied and interesting to a client than one containing only TIR and Unblocking. In addition to providing new tools, this workshop expands the use of TIR itself to fit more situations.
