Description: Preparing for a certification or licensure examination can be daunting. Questions like: What do I study? What will the questions be like? What topics will be included on the examination? are frequently asked by test takers. This webinar, produced in partnership with Orion Healthcare Technology, is designed for any individual who expects to take a certification or licensure in the future and would like some assistance preparing for it. Topics will include: the expectations of certification/licensure testing, the mechanics of multiple-choice questioning and research regarding successful examination completion and options available for test preparation, including formal education and manualized study. The presenter will also review levels of certification/licensure available in reference to ethics and scopes-of-practice and discuss in the typical state and national certification/licensure process, including the National Certification Commission (NCC) domain areas of testing for the NCAC I, NCAC II and MAC levels. Lindsay E. Freese, M.Ed., MLADC, MAC, is a Professor of Human Service at NHTI-Concord’s Community College in New Hampshire, and has been an adjunct faculty member at Antioch/NE Graduate School. Over the last 29 years Lindsay has practiced clinically in a variety of settings, and directed several alcohol and drug treatment programs in the State of New Hampshire. Lindsay is a past president of the New Hampshire Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors Association and served two terms on the National Certification Commission (NCC) at NAADAC: The Association for Addiction Professionals. He is a former member of the New Hampshire Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certification Review Board. He has served on several editorial advisory boards and has contributed articles and book reviews in national publications. He has been involved in national and international training. Other interests include political advocacy and crisis trauma work. He is a member of the Granite State Critical Incident Response Team, and the NH-DHHS Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team. He is trained in the use of EMDR (Levels 1 & 2) and is a U.S. Army Vietnam era veteran. As a hobby, he is a wood turner, a member of the Guild of NH Woodworkers and a musician. At NHTI he teaches courses in human service, addiction and criminal justice.
