NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, sponsors several annual and regular awards to honor the work of addiction professionals, organizations and public figures.

All award nominations must be received by April 30 for consideration by the NAADAC Awards Committee, with the exception of the John Avery Staff Award. The deadline for submissions for the John Avery Staff Award if November 1st.

Please click on the hyperlinks below to view eligibility requirements, nominate an individual or organization and to access those individuals and organizations who have won these prestigious awards!

  1. Mel Schulstad Professional of the Year - for an individual who has made outstanding and sustained contributions to the advancement of the addiction counseling profession.
  2. William F. "Bill" Callahan Award - for sustained and meritorious service at the national level to the profession of addiction counseling.
  3. Lora Roe Memorial Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor of the Year - for a counselor who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession of addiction counseling.
  4. NAADAC Organizational Achievement Award - for organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to the addiction profession and particularly strong support for the individual addiction professional.
  5. Medical Professional of the Year - for a medical professional who has made an outstanding contribution to the addiction profession.
  6. Lifetime Honorary Membership Award - for an individual or entity who has established outstanding service through a lifetime of consistent contributions to the advancement of NAADAC, the addiction profession and its professionals.
  7. Addiction Educator of the Year Award - (Award criteria are being revised, nominations not currently being accepted)
  8. John Avery Staff Award - for a NAADAC staff member who has consistently excelled in his or her position; has made outstanding contributions in the area of service and dedication to NAADAC; has promoted teamwork and collaboration; and who has consistently done so with a positive and forward-thinking attitude.
