NAADAC Convenes First Leadership Summit March 6 to 7, 2005

NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, is pleased to convene its first Leadership Summit March 6 to 7, 2005 in Washington, DC. The Summit, titled Taking Action: Building Bridges, Strengthening Relationships, and Recovering Lives, will be the first NAADAC conference to address strategies for addiction professionals to take leadership roles. Seminars and workshops will focus on building the broadest support for the treatment and prevention of addictive disorders.

NAADAC's Summit will feature seminars on clinical issues facing addiction professionals, involvement in coalitions, partnering with business and community leaders and keeping abreast of current trends. Presentations will feature speakers from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (SAMSHA/CSAT) and the Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTCs).

This Summit will create a unique opportunity for NAADAC's members, leaders and national partners to assess and plan for the future of the organization. Charlie G. Curie, MA, ACSW, the Administrator of SAMHSA, US Department of Health and Human Services will facilitate a discussion on the future of prevention and treatment services. Other speakers include Dr. H. Westley Clark, the Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration; Mary R. Woods, RNC, LADC, MSHS, NAADAC President; Dr. Sharon Morgillo Freeman, PhD, APRN, MAC, NAADAC President-Elect; Ron Hunsicker, President and CEO of the National Association of Treatment Providers and Eileen McGrath, Executive Vice President and CEO of the Association for Addiction Medicine; Fraser Lang, President and Publisher of Manisses Communication Group and Gary Enos, Editor in Chief of Addiction Professional magazine.
