NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, is pleased to welcome Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, NCAC II, as its new Management Consultant. Moreno Tuohy has over 26 years experience working on substance abuse disorders, domestic violence/anger management and conflict resolution. She is currently the Director of Danya Institute and the Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center (CEATTC). Moreno Tuohy will assist NAADAC during a transition period between Executive Directors as a Management Consultant, while continuing to serve at the Danya Institute and the CEATTC.
Moreno Tuohy, who starts immediately, said she is excited to join NAADAC's team and supports the many initiatives NAADAC has undertaken. "I have a passion for NAADAC and am committed to maintaining its strong vision. NAADAC will continue to work to improve the lives and livelihoods of addiction professionals and the clients, families and communities they serve," Moreno Tuohy said.
Previously, Moreno Tuohy served as President and Treasurer of the NAADAC Executive Committee, as a Commissioner on the NAADAC Certification Board and as Chair of NAADAC's International and Legislative committees. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and is certified both nationally and in Washington State.
Moreno Tuohy replaces NAADAC's former Executive Director, Pat Ford-Roegner, who has decided to seek new opportunities. As Executive Director, Ford-Roegner had many impressive accomplishments, including building partnerships with other organizations in the public and private health professions; strengthening ties with government and the private sector; expanding benefits for NAADAC members; raising NAADAC's visibility on Capitol Hill throughout the substance abuse disorders community and securing a $100,000 congressional earmark for workforce development issues.
"NAADAC is looking forward to building on the constructive discussions begun at our Annual Meetings in October and building for the future. Cynthia Moreno Tuohy will help us energize NAADAC and ensure it remains the premier membership association for Addiction Professionals," said Mary Woods, RNC, LADC, MSHS, President of NAADAC. |
