Recognition Given to Association Publishing and Communications Professionals February 3, 2010 For Immediate Release ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The Angerosa Research Foundation has selected four emerging communications professionals, including Donovan Kuehn, staff member of NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, to receive Rising Star Scholarships. The Angerosa Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization established by Stratton Publishing & Marketing, Inc., in 2003 to conduct industry benchmark research to benefit the association publishing and marketing communities The Foundation is named in honor of the late Angela Angerosa, former vice president of research for Stratton. The foundation launched the Publishing Trendsetter and Rising Star Scholarship recognition programs in 2008 to honor and support association media professionals. Four communications professions considered emerging young leaders are the recipients of $1,000 educational scholarships as part of the Foundation’s Rising Star Scholarship Program. This first-of-its-kind scholarship program provides professional development tuition assistance to association publishing and communication professionals who seek to advance their own professional development and, as a result, support their association’s communications efforts. Rising Star Scholarship recipients include Donovan Kuehn, Director of Operations and Outreach for NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, in Alexandria ,Va.; Jeffrey Lee, staff writer for National Apartment Association, Arlington, Va.; Cecily Walters, assistant editor for the School Nutrition Association, National Harbor, Md.; and Emily Allen, communications/publications manager for the International Association of Administrative Professionals, in Kansas City, Mo. The scholarships will be used to fund attendance at educational programs that focus on publishing, media, and association communications. “We are delighted to be able to provide these scholarships to such a deserving group of young professionals,” Stratton says. “We were very impressed by the quality of submissions this year and look forward to continuing to support the profession in the coming years with education scholarships.” The Foundation also awarded its Publishing Trendsetter of the Year to Gary Rubin, chief publishing, e-media, and business development officer and group publisher of the Society for Human Resource Management, in Alexandria, Va.
