Addiction professionals have two weeks to change the world. From September 28 – October 11, 2008, NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, will host its first annual two-week PAC drive to raise funds to be used for political donations.

NAADAC members will be asked to build NAADAC’s Political Action Committee fund, which allows the organization to support legislators who best represent the needs of addiction professionals and their clients. NAADAC PAC has been the only addiction-focused PAC at the federal level for over a decade.

“The PAC provides an invaluable opportunity for NAADAC to network with members of Congress. It enables us to reward senators and representatives who work on behalf of addiction professionals and their clients, as well as to build relationships with their staffs,” says Daniel Guarnera, Government Relations Liaison.

During this two week campaign, NAADAC members will have the opportunity to be recognized for their donations. One member from each of the eight geographical regions will win a free behind-the-scenes tour of the U.S. Capitol during Advocacy in Action 2009 (March 8 – 10), as well as a NAADAC polo shirt and briefcase. One grand prize winner will receive a free hotel stay and conference registration for the 2009 Advocacy in Action conference.

NAADAC will also be cooperating with state affiliates to encourage the participation of its membership.

“This two-week campaign is a great opportunity for all NAADAC members to get involved in the advocacy process in a unique and important way,” says Joseph Deegan, NAADAC PAC Chair, of Charleston, W.V. “NAADAC’s PAC opens doors for us as an organization, but it’s only as effective as what our members are able to give.”
