Effective March 2007, NAADAC will add two new membership opportunities for addiction services professionals who are working towards qualification, certification or licensure and want to be active members of NAADAC. Membership is also open to professionals who work in associated addiction services fields.

"The purpose of this change is to create more opportunities for entry-level addiction professionals to get involved with NAADAC," said Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, NCAC II, CCDC III, SAP, NAADAC Executive Director.

"Just as there is no wrong door to addiction treatment," she added, "there is no wrong way to get involved with NAADAC."

The two categories, Full Associate and Partial Associate membership, offer membership in NAADAC at a discounted rate in recognition of the fact that new professionals often have lower earning power in their first few years.

Membership benefits of the two new categories include:

Full Associate Membership

  • A subscription to NAADAC?s bi-monthly publication the NAADAC News
  • A NAADAC membership certificate, membership card and lapel pin
  • Voting privileges in NAADAC elections

Partial Associate Membership

  • A subscription to NAADAC?s bi-monthly publication the NAADAC News
  • A membership certificate, membership card and lapel pin

Both the Full Associate and Partial Associate membership categories are only available to new members or to NAADAC members who have not had a current membership for 12 months or more.

"This program will help those who are trainees or interns get involved in their professional association," NAADAC Affiliate Relations Manager, Diana Kamp.
