Diverse skills and geography reflected in new leadership team

A new leadership team for NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, was sworn into office at the NAADAC annual conference in Burbank, Calif. The immediate Past President, Mary Woods, RNC, LADC, MSHS passed the torch to new President Sharon Morgillo Freeman, Ph.D., MSN, MAC and other members of the Executive Committee.
Dr. Sharon Morgillo Freeman serves as Director of The Center for Brief Therapy, PC, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is board certified as a Cognitive Therapist by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy in addition to achieving national certification as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and senior level international certification as a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) through NAADAC. She has a Ph.D. in Sociology and her two master's degrees were awarded in Psychology through the Adler School of Professional Psychology and Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the previous Clinical Director of Inpatient Addiction Services, Inpatient Acute Psychiatric and Dual Diagnosis Units for the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center at Presbyterian which won the national treatment program award in 2002.
Dr. Freeman, as President, plans to strengthen the organization through the "continuation and development of our current mission as the premier global organization of addiction-focused professionals and through expansion, increased coordination and support of our national affiliates."

Patricia Greer, BA, LCDC, AAC, NAADAC President Elect. Greer was the recipient of the 2005 TAAP Elves Smith Counselor of the Year Award and served as the NAADAC Mid-South Regional Vice President from 2003 to 2006.
Sharon DeEsch, LPC, LCDC, MAC, CCJP, SAP, NAADAC Secretary. DeEsch has served as the chairperson of the Texas and national Ethics Committees and has been very active in her state and national professional association for the past 19 years.
Alvin Feliciano, CADC II, ILSAC, MA, NAADAC Treasurer. Feliciano, a Program Manager at Veteran's Village residential treatment program in San Diego, has promoted the education and professionalism of treatment professionals. |
