Governor Jim Doyle of Wisconsin, Great Falls, Mont. Mayor Dona Stebbins and Peggy Beltrone, Chairperson of Cascade County, Mont., have passed proclamations recognizing September 20, 2006, as Addiction Professionals' Day. Addiction Professionals' Day, which acknowledges those who work on addiction prevention, intervention, treatment and aftercare, has been celebrated since 1992.
National Addiction Professionals' Day is held every September as a part of Recovery Month, a time when people throughout the nation are celebrating their success in overcoming addiction.
In other events celebrating Addiction Professionals' Day, NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, will host an Open House on September 20, 2006, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm at its national office at 901 N. Washington Street, Suite 600, Alexandria, Virginia, 22314.
The District of Columbia Addiction Prevention and Recovery Administration (DC APRA) will also host an event to recognize outstanding counselors in conjunction with the Central East ATTC and NAADAC on September 20, 2006 from 1:00pm-2:30pm in the Mental Health Training Room, 64 New York Avenue, NW, 5th Floor, in Washington, DC.
"We welcome everyone to visit us on September 20th, or hold their own local event to celebrate the powerful work that addiction counselors do. As each life is recovered, that helps the whole family and eventually translates into the recovery of a community," said Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, Executive Director of NAADAC. |
