The NAADAC, National Certification Commission (NCC), is looking for qualified candidates to fill several Commissioner positions. Any NAADAC member with a valid national credential through the NCC (NCAC I, NCAC II, MAC or TAS are acceptable) and expertise in certain clinical areas are encouraged to apply by August 31, 2006.

The NCC operates as an independent body for all matters involving NAADAC's alcohol and drug abuse counselor certification and endorsement opportunities at the national leve1. The thirteen member Commission is responsible for ensuring that NADAC's national credentials maintain the highest achievable standards and accurately reflect the most up-to-date, science-based research. The NCC also provides professional development opportunities and specialty endorsements to help addiction counselors continue to advance in the profession.

The NCC is looking for qualified candidates to fill vacancies on the Commission. Each Commissioner serves a three-year term and is required to attended two bi-annual meetings, participate in five conference calls a year, and serve on one of the following subcommittees related to the profession's current needs:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Adolescents
  • Faith-based Approaches
  • International
  • Credential Bibliography
  • Policies and Procedure

Once nominations are received, recommendations will be made to the President of NAADAC and Chairperson of the NCC for appointment selection. If appointed, a letter of approval from your employer is required to ensure all responsibilities of the service can be met.
