Easy to use program helps with HIPAA regulation compliance

NAADAC members can now download a free, informative tool that enables them to meet the HIPAA requirement for Security reminders. It is available at no charge from NAADAC's HIPAA partner, 3DGrid Healthcare Solutions.

HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, legislation passed in 1996 establishing national standards that protect clients' privacy and personal health information. Any company, program or facility that deals with clients' confidential information is covered by HIPAA regulations.

3DGrid's HIPAA Checkup Dashboard is an easy to use, entertaining collection of tips, tools and reminders regarding HIPAA compliance. It can be downloaded at no charge directly from 3DGrid's web site: www.3dgrid.com/download-form.htm.

The 3DGrid HIPAA Checkup Dashboard offers pop-up messages with HIPAA security reminders. They automatically appear in the lower right hand corner of the user's computer screen. These pop ups help address the HIPAA Security requirement for Security reminders. User's can set the frequency of the reminders to suit their own individual preferences and needs.

The release also includes four HIPAA-oriented games that offer a break from the drudgery of HIPAA. They are HIPAA Hangman, HIPAA Word-search and an Othello-like strategy game. The dashboard also includes healthcare humor and a HIPAA Security screensaver with more than 150 different HIPAA tips that alternate on the screen when the screensaver is running. The screensaver requires a password to re-enter the desktop, a basic HIPAA Security requirement.

"To be frank, HIPAA can be a pain for providers. While there are good reasons for the regulations, they are confusing and dull.
