NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, was proud to sponsor of The South Florida RecoveryFest 2005 "A Weekend Celebration of Addiction Recovery" presented by The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs on September 24-25, 2005, in Boca Raton, Fla. The South Florida RecoveryFest 2005 brought together national, state and local groups and individuals to learn about, advocate for and celebrate recovery in South Florida. The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs, Inc. treats over 2,500 patients annually and is ranked as one of the largest private providers of addiction treatment in the United States.
The event gave NAADAC the chance to work with The Watershed, an organizational member of the association, to educate and support recovery communities. According to concert organizer, Dennis Miller, 10,000 people came out to support RecoveryFest. Such an astounding number shows the dedication of the community to support recovery.
NAADAC jointly organized a press conference with The Watershed to address the theme, "Addiction Hurts Us All, Recovery Helps Us All." Fifty people attended the press conference, along with members of the media.
"The energy and dedication of the Watershed can't be matched," said Donovan Kuehn, NAADAC's Director of Outreach and Marketing. "Through their generosity and commitment, the Watershed has made an impact by hosting a concert that is free, family friendly and focused on the positive message of recovery from addiction."
NAADAC was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the Watershed to reach thousands of people who will pass the message along that addiction is a disease and recovery is possible. NAADAC looks forward to other cooperative ventures in the future. |
