Northwest Regional Vice President, NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals
Gregory J. Bennett, MA, LAT, served on the NAADAC Board of Directors and is the President of the Wyoming Association of Addiction Professionals (WAAP) currently 2008-2011. Bennett reorganized WAAP in 2008, providing NAADAC with another state affiliate. He was one of the founders for the student organization, Coalition of Addiction Students and Professionals Pursuing Advocacy (CASPPA), which is one of the student organizations used by NAADAC as a flagship for increasing student recruitment and retention efforts. Bennett and other founders of CASPPA received the Emerging Leaders of The Year Award in 2008. He graduated from the University of South Dakota, receiving a Masters Degree in Addiction Therapy, Professional Counseling and Educational Psychology. Bennett moved to his home State of Wyoming following his education and worked as an Adjunct Faculty Member for the University of South Dakota as an online instructor for the Alcohol and Drug Studies Department from 2005-2007. Due to the lack of Addiction Treatment Programs in the rural area of Wyoming, he built a practice from the ground up for adult/adolescent outpatient and intensive outpatient co-occurring treatment programs. Bennett also started an outpatient, intensive outpatient and residential co-occurring treatment program for adolescents in the spring of 2009. He is currently the Clinical Director for the nonprofit, Northwest Wyoming Treatment Center and owns/directs, 180 Degree Difference, FLLC. Bennett has a Philosophy of Treatment that, “ Addiction is chronic, progressive, relapsing and in-turn effects the way people behave. Everyone is different and has different needs; therefore, I must create an individualized program for each patient and not make a patient fit my program.” |
