Jim Holder has 34 years of experience dealing with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.  He is currently the Coordinator of Substance Abuse Services for McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.  Holder developed McLeod’s Intensive Outpatient Program for co-occurring disorders in 1995 and is now treating patients and training staff in the treatment and assessment of co-occurring disorders in their psychiatric unit.  Holder first identified his work with co-occurring disorder patients in 1979 as the Director of Family Services Program with the Florence, Darlington, Marion and Dillon County Commissions on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.  Holder was awarded the Lora Roe Counselor of the Year in 1999 by NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals.  He presently serves as the Chairman for the NAADAC Certification Commission.  Holder has presented at 45 state, national and international conferences.  He is the author of  Perceptual Adjustment Therapy,  The Sobriety Enhancement Workbook, and the pamphlet, “The FACE Screening for Pre-dependency”.  He was actively involved in research for co-occurring disorders with McLeod Behavior Health and the University of South Carolina.  He is a developer and trainer in the ongoing year-long training programs for Basic and Advanced Counseling Skills.
